Never Too Much: Greatest Hits | OUT NOW

[New York, NY – December 13, 2024] Epic Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music, today announced the release of Luther Vandross’ Never Too Much: Greatest Hits, a compilation of the legendary R&B singer’s most beloved songs. The album is available today on vinyl, CD and at all major streaming platforms, and serves as a companion piece to the Luther Vandross documentary film premiering on Wednesday, January 1 at 8pm ET/PT on CNN. The New York Times has hailed Luther Vandross as a “transformational presence from the start,” and the Never Too Much: Greatest Hits album serves as a tribute to his remarkable career. The compilation features Vandross’ iconic hits like “Never Too Much,” “So Amazing,” and “Any Love,” alongside his distinctive interpretations of classics like “A House Is Not A Home” and “The Closer I Get To You” (a duet with Beyoncé Knowles).

The album also features four previously unreleased songs, including the recent single “Michelle,” a never before heard cover of The Beatles classic that Luther recorded in 1989. The song marks Vandross’ return to the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart after 18 years. The accompanying music video, directed by Darrin James, is available to watch online here.

Additionally, the album features the previously unreleased track “Speak Your Love,” written and produced by Vandross and Fonzi Thornton, as well as remixes of “Never Too Much” by Lost Frequencies and “Get Myself Together” by Louie Vega. See full tracklist below.

Luther Vandross’ influence on contemporary music is undeniable, as evidenced by the continued inspiration he provides to new generations of artists and fans. Kendrick Lamar’s song “luther” from his recent surprise release of GNX, which samples the Vandross and Cheryl Lynn duet “If This World Were Mine,” serves as a testament to this enduring legacy. Since the premiere of the Luther: Never Too Much documentary at Sundance in January, there has been a year-long resurgence of appreciation for Vandross on social media and in real life, including the Grammy Museum’s exhibit Luther Vandross: Artistry and Elegance, inclusion in the Solid Gold exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum and the ultimate celebration at Xanadu presented by It’s All Black Music.

Luther: Never Too Much debuts on CNN, Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at 8pm ET/PT on CNN. The film will also be available on demand beginning Thursday, January 2 to pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN connected TV and mobile apps, and Cable Operator Platforms. Described by Variety as “both a biography and a musical anthology, a primer and invitation to explore him further,” Luther: Never Too Much features rarely seen archival footage and interviews with those who knew him and loved him.
Never Too Much: Greatest Hits, a timeless collection of some of the greatest R&B songs ever recorded, is a must-have for any fan of Luther Vandross.
